This course aimed to empower women in the village by providing them with the skills needed for garment production, both for personal use and potential entrepreneurship.
Objective: To equip tribal women with the skills necessary to start tailoring and embroidery services.
Outcome:
11 women participated in the 50-days training.Participants successfully mastered basic tailoring techniques, garment stitching, and embroidery.
Instant Impact: Several women have already begun small tailoring services from their homes, earning between ₹200 per day. Somebody will be searching for other job opportunities while also looking to upgrade their skills

Mobilizing and creating awareness among the Damkottai tribal people at the Pennagaram Forest Range about the skill training (Tailoring Course) at their doorstep can be carried out through a structured approach. Here’s a step-by-step plan: 1. Understand the Community Needs: Conduct an initial survey or discussion with community leaders to understand the specific needs and concerns related to skill training. Highlight the importance of financial independence, empowerment, and how skill training (like tailoring) can improve livelihoods. 2. Collaboration with Local Leaders and Influencers: Collaborate with village heads, influential members, and local organizations that have the trust of the Damkottai people. These leaders can help encourage participation. Set up meetings with key stakeholders to discuss the benefits and logistics of the training program. 3. Door-to-Door Campaign:Organize door-to-door visits by the mobilization team to introduce the skill training course to each family. Personal interaction builds trust. Share brochures or pamphlets in their local language, detailing the tailoring course, its duration, and its potential benefits (like employment opportunities, starting small businesses, etc.).
This initiative focuses on engaging and educating the Damkottai tribal community in the Pennagaram Forest Range about the benefits of participating in a skill development training course for tailoring, offered directly at their doorstep as part of the EDC (Eco Development Committee)Program.
